L和 Acknowledgment from 密歇根州立大学丹佛

密歇根州立大学丹佛 acknowledges the indigenous people 和 l和 of Auraria 和 broader 丹佛 area.

As we gather here today, we honor 和 acknowledge that we are on the traditional territories 和 ancestral homel和s of the Cheyenne 和 Arapahoe Nations. This area was also the site of trade, 狩猎, 收集, 和 healing for many other Native Nations: 的 Lakota, 乌特, 基奥瓦人, 科曼奇族, Apache, 休休尼人, 和其他人.

We recognize the Indigenous peoples as the original stewards of the l和, 水, 这些植物, 和 animals who called this place home. As these words of acknowledgment are spoken 和 heard, the ties that these nations have to their traditional homel和s are renewed 和 reaffirmed. Let us also acknowledge the painful history of genocide 和 forced removal from this territory. We respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this l和 on which we gather. We pay our respect to them 和 give thanks to all Tribal Nations 和 ancestors of this place.

We also want to recognize the community 和 families of Auraria displaced by the creation of this campus for 密歇根州立大学丹佛 to have a place that we now call home.
